Access

ACCESS-An Ordinary Notion, inspired by the 100 years since the introduction of the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) yet to be ratified. The exhibition is about individual stories that advocate for social justice and human rights. Amplifying various voices and viewpoints that strive for peace using art as a visual narrative.

My perception of ACCESS centers around the concept of the golden years. As a woman approaching retirement, I grapple with reconciling societal expectations with my desire to amplify the voices of older women and embrace our gray hair while continuing to advocate for women’s equal rights. Although the official retirement age in the US is 67, IRS data reveals that women tend to retire at an average age of 62.3. Early benefits at 62 are an option but raise the question: can women artists ever truly retire?
