New Museum Los Gatos (NUMU) presents Art in the Time of Corona, it's inaugural benefit auction exhibition of artwork created during and inspired by the massive social and political upheaval of the COVID-19 pandemic. The auction exhibition is on view in the NUMU galleries, as well as virtually through the NUMU website. Many artists have taken the time of isolation to innovate, explore different media, or dive into new methods and concepts. Juried by curator and gallerist, Craig Krull, this exhibition presents a rare opportunity to experience an eclectic range of groundbreaking work, united by this urgent theme.

“Isolation has been difficult, but it has also been a shared experience. The artists that I selected for this exhibition have clearly been introspective while coming to terms with an unprecedented reality… employing their work as ‘a barometer of the moment.’” — Craig Krull, exhibition juror
NUMU will also offer supporting programming throughout the three month exhibition. When the COVID-19 shelter-in-place mandate was announced in Santa Clara County in March, NUMU reached out to its community with an invitation to participate in a project called “Create in Place,” to share ways that they were being creative while sheltering at home. What resulted was an exuberant response from community members of all stripes—artists, non-artists, adults, and children. These creative projects by community members will be shown on a digital reel that will be viewable on the NUMU website and in the Museum during the auction exhibition. A complete listing of public program dates and details will be announced in the coming weeks. The auction fundraiser will be accessible online beginning on the first day of the exhibition, December 11, 2020. Proceeds benefit exhibiting artists and NUMU exhibitions and educational programs.
